Well first we have to establish whether we are talking about wants or needs. If someone wants 61MP there are no reasons necessary. If someone says they "need" it that's a very different discussion. The two terms are not interchangeable.

It really depends on how you view images. If you regularly make huge prints or chronically pixel peep then yes I'm sure you will see a difference. However the jump in linear resolution from 42 to 61 (21%) is smaller than the jump from 24 to 42 for example (32%), and ~132lp/mm is uncharted territory for lenses covering a 43mm image circle. IMO unless you have some commercial requirements or are regularly making super large prints I'm just not convinced that 61MP is more than a "nice to have".

Once the studio shots come out we will be able to compare directly.
