A Bearded Robber Fly and other Fauna

It's back into the gardens again with the M5, this week in Virginia instead of New York. The long side of the Sigma 60-600mm Sport allows me to sit by the pool and aim into the greenery that surrounds it. This rather large insect flew by me so quickly, I couldn't tell what it was until it landed. Here is a detail showing it to be a beautiful creature:
