Dashcam pays for itself
13

I've had a GoPro for a few years now.  I use it as a dashcam.  Mostly, not much happens.  A deer did run right in front of my car shortly after I got one.

However, recently the dashcam paid for itself.  Got into a car accident.  I gave my account and the other driver gave his account.  I didn't provide the footage at first as I wanted to see what decision the insurance adjusters would make.  Due to conflicting accounts of what happened, they found us both 50/50 at fault.

I mailed the footage to the adjuster recently and based on the video, the other driver was ruled 100% at fault.  Am getting my deductible returned (several hundred) and kept my driving record clean.  Things would have turned out much differently If I did not have a dashcam.

As photographers we tend to be out on the road a lot.  A dashcam can be a great safety tool and takes nice videos too.  Capture that rare moment, like the deer that dashed across the road in front of my car at night.
