The point I am making is that you are comparing a f/4.5 with a TC (f/6.3 total) against the lens stopped down to f/6.3. This is not an apples to apples comparison. You need to either stop down the lens to f/6.3 when using the TC or use the bare lens at f/4.5 when comparing to the TC combo at f/6.3. Only then can you correctly determine the effect of the TC.

You did the same thing for the photos of the dog in your original post.

The reason I suggest this is because even good lenses (my Sony 500 is an example) may have some improvement in sharpness when stopped down a bit (2/3 in my case).
