Canon Patent?

Does anyone know why Sony continue to release Cameras without a reversing flip screen? Is it a copyright/legal restraint? Someone must know why they do not provide this or has the contacts to ask Sony why. It seems every commentator makes the same negative remarks about flip out screens yet Sony keep releasing cameras and do not change.

This may have already been mentioned, but Canon might have a copyright on FF mirrorless Vari-angle screens. I've read a couple threads past and present which had somewhat reliable content. It would explain why only Canon has one on a FF as all other bodies with this screen are different format a la ASP-C, M43 etc.
