40 vs 50 vs 55 mm for infrared on a7r

I just got a full spectrum a7r. I would like to buy one lens in the walk-around/portraiture/general photography category that can be used as my main lens for infrared on my a7r and also as a secondary lens for my normal a7r3.

My considerations are:

  • Batis 40mm
  • 50mm f/1.4
  • 55mm f/1.8

Although the 55mm seems to be highly regarded for infrared, I cannot find much on the 40mm or the 50mm at all. Given the versatility of the 40mm, I've been leaning in that direction but have no idea how it performs in IR.

I have been reading that it is sometimes difficult to recreate situations where issues like hotspots from infra-red would occur, etc. so I am worried issues may show up after purchasing the lens. Any tips on how to test these lenses for IR compatibility and what to look for would also be greatly appreciated!

Which lens should I get?

Sony a7R Sony FE 55mm F1.8 Zeiss Batis 40mm F2 CF
