X-T3 100-400mm combo advice

Recently got back into birding using a Canon Powershot SX70 super zoom and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately my other half has also liked the fun experience with the camera being so light and responsive, and has taken it over

So I’m going to get another system for me, with maybe a bit more quality, and have boiled down to 2 choices, either buy a 100-400mm to go with my existing X-T3, or for a bit less money buy the Sony RX10 MkIV.

Does anybody have experience of both with both static birds and birds in flight, to decide which would be the better system. The Fuji is obviously a bigger sensor, but the Sony is lighter, but what about sharpness when cropping in to small birds at full reach?
