Contrary Panasonic made the classic mistake other manufacturers did calling the same thing different "names" in different markets....

NAIL IT ON THE HEAD 100%

As a Panasonic fan myself, I am FRUSTRATED by its constant name changes that confuse the buyers & seller a like. I've ask a Panasonic representative in Asia, even he was confused by Panasonic model names and have to google it. That is a BAD Sign if someone working @selling Panasonic camera in confuse himself.

Panasonic briefly cancel the much-loved GF name for a GX name, but after much confusing, decide to revert back to GF naming again. There are too many damn "G" in the stupid naming. G Gh Gf Gx, yet a G1/G3/G5/G6 is very different from camera from G9, as G9 is a specialized sports camera. GX8 is very special one-off camera from GX9, which many Gx8 fans are disappointing.

In the end, Olympus naming is not only superior, but also CONSISTENT

  • EM1 - classic DSLR center-evf style for PRO
  • EM5 - classic DSLR center-evf style for Enthusiast
  • EM1 - classic DSLR center-evf style for Consumer

PEN = range finder EVF to the side, or EVF as add-on design

  • EP1 / EP2 / EP3 / EP5 - range finder type
  • E-PL1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 - entry M43

that is it, NO confusion.  Why can't Panasonic just copy Olympus on the naming???
