Using the 200-500mm in a pro sports setting.

hey all,

I'm an editorial photog based here in California and I shoot the 200-500 for my long glass. I rarely shoot nighttime sports, so f/5.6 isn't a factor. I shoot for some magazines and the wires and it's perfect. I know a few other colleagues who shoot MLB with it and they love it.

I get a lot of folks asking if it works good enough for pro work and it does just fine. It's perfect for what I shoot in motorsports racing at Laguna Seca. I shot the USWNT a few months ago in San Jose for the AP and it was great.

Here's some recent work. The lead photos are mine and shot with the 200-500mm on my D5.

I've also switched to a 70-200mm f//4 VR for daytime sports due to the weight.
