just before last Christmas I got myself EF 200/2.8 II. a little anxious if it's a good choice as this focal length is said to be a bit in nowhere land (too short for wildlife yet too long for casual portraits or city details), but at 325 EUR I figured I might just give it a try.

turns out it's been a real steal for me, the lens fits me beautifully, with great focal length and lovely bokeh for some nature details or landscapes with out-of-focus foregrounds. and make no mistake, this beast has more than enough detail even wide open at f/2.8

beautiful shots but #3 is clearly my fave! i love to photograph wild poppies ;-)

All very nice, and all at 200mm. You could have used this.

I always carry a 200mm f2.8 when hiking. It's very light and there's always a mountain or wildlife that needs a telephoto lens.

great shots and a gem of a lens. For me it beats the 135L for value....

time to start a flame war :)

No flame. I have a 135 f/2 and have considered getting a 200 f/2.8. One-at-a-time based on shooting needs and budget.

The flame war may be with 70/200 fans. I'm happy if they're happy with what they have.

I like this lens, indeed. Sometimes too short, but always light.

I've been seriously considering this lens for APS-C, to use for lower light wildlife. Takes a TC too. Nice to see it's capable of some excellent images.

I love shooting these kind of shots! #3 and 6 especially! I only have the 70-200 2.8, someday maybe I'll add the 135 or 200. Beautiful, creative photos. Thanks for sharing.

I like them all but have to go with 4 because I like yellow.

Yellow is nice too.

Sorry for the previous one, that's a real 200/2,8L

go for it. I used these as a pair for many years and they are so good together.

nice. love the dof choice.

It's a good choice, I bought a used one last year and added a TC 1.4 last month. Lighter and cheaper than 70-200/2.8 I would use at 200 mm most of the time.

Wish I hadn’t peered into this thread.....another beautiful display and I don’t need another lens! :). #6 is my favorite of a bunch of nice images.
