. My dilemma is whether it makes sense to own both the 12-100 and the 12-40. I love the 12-40 it's my go-to and it would suck to part with it but I have my eye on the 12-100, I'm this close to finally pulling the trigger on an em1 ii and I'd like to bundle it with the 12-100 for the extra IBIS versatility it brings. I'm having a tough time justifying keeping the 12-40 in that scenario.

That was me earlier this year. I upgraded to the EM1.2 (grey market) and 12-100 Used, and never looked back. I like to shoot waterfalls with slow shutter speeds using filters. This combo has let me do just that handheld, with shutter speeds as long as a 3 seconds. My test filter for keeping the week wonderful 12-40 is how often I use it. So far I have not used it at all since getting the 12-100.
