Sports on an EOS m100
Re: Sports on an EOS m100
An inexpensive AF solution I use to shoot my son's hockey and ball hockey on my M5 is Viltrox adapters; straight thru for reach and the focal reducer for speed. I don't shoot much anymore so I sold my long lens and just rent an EF 70-200mm/f2.8 V2. At the local camera store it costs CDN$35/day and I get it Sat and Sun for $35 because they are closed Sun. It's a very common lens at the rental stores, I think my store has 6-8 in the their fleet. The M5 may focus faster than an M100 so watch for that.
There are certainly better rigs for indoor sport but the M5 is more than capable in my opinion. With the focal reducer, the quality is decent. I have to shoot at ISO 3200 to get to 1/640 on the booster and 6400 on the straight thru. I bought both Viltrox adapters off eBay for around US$200 I recall.
