Allow me to chime in with a slightly different view...

I've never had the NX Mini, that is until recently, because I always focused on various APS-C NX offerings such as the NX300, NX500, and NX30. I recently sold the NX300 because with the NX500, I found myself using the latter most of the time.

But as of late, I became interested in replacing some of my small-sensor enthusiast models with the larger 1" sensor cameras on the market. Realizing how much I enjoyed how Samsung renders colors (color tonality), I took the chance a few months ago and scoured the net to find a new NX Mini (silver and brown version) with 9-27 MM kit lens. I then also purchased an NX to Mini adapter from a forum member here - I ordered that from Norway where he resides. I'd like to get the 17 MM IS, but that will set me back $300 for a new one, so I'm holding off.

Now in getting back to the NX Mini, the first thing you have to realize is that without a lens, this looks and feels like a cell phone (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The camera slots open from the side - both for the Cell phone type of battery and for the very small SDHC card, so you have to adjust for that. The nice thing about the batteries is that they last for a very, very long time and they are very cheap to purchase on eBay or Amazon for Samsung originals. I even purchased a battery charger, rather than use the USB charger that comes with the camera.

What's nice to see are:

1. The same dynamic color tonality as Samsung's regular NX line.

2. Wonderful IQ capabilities.

3. Fairly good dynamic range - actually, more so than I expected to be sure. It definitely blows my Samsung EX-2F out of the water with regards to dynamic range.

You see, I have a tendency (at times) to pursue some camera models that were released in the past and that I had overlooked for whatever reasons. I overlooked this NX Mini, because on the surface, I just didn't care for how it looked. Well, now that I've revisited this camera (and have acquired one), my most immediate thought was, "How in the hell did I miss this one, as I should have gotten one while it was still in active circulation?"

So, if you haven't already done so, I'd recommend getting the NX Mini. And BTW, that price you quoted in the OP is not bad at all - that's lots of stuff for the money. Of course, as buyers, we want everything at the cheapest possible price - but there are limits and it's important to be reasonable.

In a few weeks I'll be doing a belated personal review on the NX Mini, pending a trip we're taking to the coast during the middle of July. When I get back I'll put up the review. In the meantime, for other NX users, if you're still an NX fan - I'd suggest considering the Mini with the 1" sensor as it could very well be the perfect carry-everywhere camera. There's still quite a few of them on eBay (new):

As my close buddy, "Johann the Elf" (see below) says - image taken by the NX Mini and 9-27 MM lens - you need to get that Mini.
