Extenders: does brand really matter?

I'm looking to buy a set of tube extenders to use on Canon cameras. I want to get tubes that allow electronic communication with the camera, but I've come to the point where picking between brands seems fairly hard.

Canon tubes costs 2x as much as Kenko's, and Kenko tubes cost 2x the Meike's....

I think I'll use the tubes mainly with my 40mm f2.8 pancake lens, so I'm not too worried about the amount of weight the tubes would need to carry, but I'm finding it very hard to make a decision. If anyone who went through the process could give me his opinion, I'd appreciate it a lot. I've seen plenty of Canon and Kenko reviews, not so much for Meike, though.
