Re: Cover shoot for local publication

I was asked to shoot the cover for a local publication recently. Jo the stylist, wanted a warm, saturated, earthy feel with some winter produce (Southern Hemisphere - Australia).

This was shot on a D800E and Nikon 24-70 f2.8 VR, 5sec at f8, 100 ISO. I used studio stobes (Bowens) but for a warmer feel I just used the modelling lights and a long exposure. A reflector with a small grid as the key and a small white umbrella for the fill. Camera was above the set on a tripod with mirror up, manual focus, live view and cable release.

Post processing was some detail enhancement, slight red reduction and removing some shine from the vegetables. There was no crop so that the graphic designer could do that later to suit the cover format and text overlays.
