Then again, there is hope for adaptation with that new FE to Z mount adapter that was announced. The EF-M is a 18 mm flange distance vs the RF's 20. Maybe just maybe an RF to EF-M adapter can be made. But the lens protocols need to be handled. Can you imagine the 28-70 adapted to an EF-M camera?

See that protrusion behind the bayonet blades? That's about 3mm thick, which means about 1mm of the protrusion needs to sink inside the mount cavity if you try to adapt the lens to EF-M. However, the protrusion is also 39mm wide, and the inner diameter of the EF-M mount is only about 33mm. Oops.

So no, RF lens on EF-M is not going to happen. It's physically impossible.

Note that RF 24-105L and 50L do not have elements sticking out the rear end, so those two lenses may be theoretically adaptable. However, this feature on RF 35 is essentially a unvoiced notice from Canon engineers to would-be adapter makers: "we get to abuse the open space behind the bayonet for fun and profit, not you!" Expect to see more lenses designed like this in the future.
