No.... that'd be silly.... why take the crop and speed hit of aps-c, when you can shoot an R or RP, and only slightly larger than the m5. Now I'd LOVE an M camera that is FF.
Some people need 30MP in APSC. So they would need 75MP+ in FF. This would be ideal with 10 fps but probably very expensive. So many would prefer the cost of APSC.
I think they should make a high res FF where you can set what crop mode you want and get increases speed with that. Could be a usable compromise to reach 10 FPS at maybe 30MP or perhaps even 24MP or something.
Fully agree. But there is just one negative to this.
FF sized and priced lenses. But then again... why not? If you take full equivalence into account, then you still end up with expensive and massive APS-C lenses. Just look at the monster recently fuji lens.
Most people using the 7D II for action shooting are probably using FF lenses anyway. Well I certainly am. I don't think it needs APS-C lenses, to be honest.
I know.... BUT.
You know how the arguments will go, and the pushes people will make.
It will go something like that.
1. We need a 7D MILC in RF mount to have access to all those beautiful L lenses. I get this and agree with that.
2. Now that we have this APS-C high end MILC... now we want a budget option.
3. Now that we have the budget option.... is canon crazy to insist that we need to buy these expensive and big FF lenses?
etc etc.
I mean we see this with regards to the RP. People are complaining like no tomorrow. How could canon give us a budget 1300 and dare charge us the same for a kit lens?? Never mind that FF was always more expensive. Never mind that if you are on a budget you can easily adapt the FF kit lens, or any budget EF FF lens. NOPE!! We need everything we want and more!!
So ya... if they go MILC, there will be those who demand budget, smaller, lighter lenses to go with it. It is just human nature. We saw it with sony... but in reverse. The A7 was suppose to be a light and small and budget FF camera. But sony was pretty much forced to come out with higher end glass, growing the body in 2 iterations as to not shock us with the fact that they moved away from that lighter, smaller MILC marketing stunt they started out with.
If canon goes APS-C and then moves to smaller bodies, it will never get as small as the EF-M mount, but it will really make the EF-M system into a very little island on its own. But it may still make business sense I suppose. Most EF-M users probably never intended to go FF. But it is a shame that the RF lenses can't be adapted.
Then again, there is hope for adaptation with that new FE to Z mount adapter that was announced. The EF-M is a 18 mm flange distance vs the RF's 20. Maybe just maybe an RF to EF-M adapter can be made. But the lens protocols need to be handled. Can you imagine the 28-70 adapted to an EF-M camera?
