I think part of the problem is treating photography as a technocracy where gear is over valued at the expense of the artistic endeavour of photography. Gear will always be a hard sell to people who spend most of their effort and time on the art of photography.

Ah, Nikon users (a lot of them still using manual focus Nikon F lenses) used to say the same thing about technologically superior EOS gear. They scoffed at "technocratic" Canon features such as electrofocus (EF) lenses, ultrasonic focus motors (USM), image stabilization (IS), etc. Nikon users used to say, "It's not about technology or whiz-bang gadgetry, it's about the artistic endeavor of photography!" But in the end, Canon won out over Nikon because they had the technological edge.
