Any advice on using fill-in on a dull day to add sparkle?

I'll be taking a group 3 rows of 10 people outdoors this evening. The weather is dull and overcast and I was wondering how best to add a little sparkle with flash.

My initial thoughts are to expose normally and add a touch of flash on camera at, say, -1EV.

I'd really appreciate any advice on whether this level of flash compensation would be appropriate and also if, as it is not the main source of illumination, on-camera flash would be OK.

I have light stands & remote flash facilities (Godox) but it would be much less hassle to use on-camera flash if at all possible. What do you think?

Many thanks

Phil

PS I’ve already had a great deal of very helpful advice on other aspects of the shoot from several people on this forum, but I didn’t ask about fill-in flash as I was expecting either sunny conditions or having to shoot indoors!
