Can i use a 64bg card in a device that says max 32gb?

Hi, I have a portable motion detector camera that says it supports up to 32gb mini sd card and should be formatted in fat32 format.

I already have a 64gb card and am not too bothered if i lose half seems i already have a card but wondered if i format the 64gb card in fat32 format will it work but will only see 32gb and not 64gb? Or will it not recognise it at all?

Unfortunately the camera doesn't have a display so when i insert the card i have no real way of knowing if it’s seeing 32gb / 64gb or none.

Or would i be best just buying a 32gb card? i know they aren't expensive but i guessed i would just use the one i have if i can.

Regards

James
