Canon EF 70-200mm L F/4 (non-IS) or EF 70-300mm II Nano USM

Hi -

i am debating between the Canon EF 70-200mm L F/4 (non-IS) or EF 70-300mm II Nano USM for my Canon 6D. I have been using some of the lens comparison tools, and the design of the 70-200mm L appears to have an inherent flare issue, which could be problematic as I shoot into bright lights often. The 70-300mm II USM appears to have better coatings as it is a newer design.

Is there a huge difference in sharpness and image quality between the two? Is there really a major flare issue on the 70-200mm F/4 L. I can’t go for one of the newer 70-200mm lenses as they are out of my budget, so I would have to stick to the original version.

Thank you!
