In your opinion!! I greatly prefer Merrill for portraits: Chroma NR 4/5 and Luminance NR 5/5 gives beautiful rendering with plenty of detail. And SPP’s Merrill Luminance NR doesn’t smear nor speckle so the files sharpen well.

P.S. I would post an example but the only portraits I have are of my niece and nephew and my sister doesn’t like their shots online.

@OP, think of SPP’s Detail tool as akin to Adobe’s Clarity or Apple’s Definition. Definitely doesn’t ape the Merrill rendering.

I agree that it is not a perfect Merrill simulator, but the Crispy side of the Detail slider sure does seem to give the Quattro images a much more "Merrillesqe" look, by "enhancing" the micro-contrast.
