Turning your photos into a village event

It's nice to do something good and practical with all these images we take and often discuss here on DPR

Last month we refreshed our local “Open Air Photo Gallery” (Freilichtgalerie Pilsbach) in our village with all new images.

We update these gallery images once a year, and this is now the 4th year we’ve been running it, and it’s still as popular as ever with visitors throughout the year

About 40 guests came to the opening event to see the 24 new weather-proof posters on Aluminium plates mounted on sturdy wooden frames.

The photos were taken by myself and a fellow hobby photographer from our village.

4 Years ago when we started this I was using only Nikon gear, now I’m using mainly Olympus m43 gear (OMD1.2). And they print out very well at 70 x 100 cm !

The weather was good for the opening event, we had a glass of sparkling wine to greet the visitors and music along the way. Everyone seemed happy!

Here’s a few snaps from that event, Maybe the real star is the path itself. The 3.5km trail goes through some lovely countryside and rural landscapes and starts and ends at a pub! The photos are every 200-300 m along the way.

This year, the gallery theme was “A journey through Europe”, It's like taking a trip from North Cape to the Mediterranean.

And it’s nice for an English guy in Austria to say some positive things about Europe at the moment

You can see a few of the current Gallery-photos themselves on this link (text in German)
And the websitel ink with the previous rounds is here

The gallery is free to visit and open every day, all year round.

Would be good to hear from anyone if you’re in the area

And one from Venice, Italy

C&C welcome
