Interesting response to a feature request sent to SonyListens

I emailed sonylistens@am.sony.com with a suggestion about a firmware feature I thought might be handy. This is the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Sony. Your file has been forwarded to our department and we appreciate your time providing a suggestion for our products. However, we regret to inform you that it is the policy of Sony Electronics not to accept for review any unsolicited idea not covered by an actual issued U.S. patent. Thank you for understanding."

So, apparently, if you'd like them to allow flash focus assist with the LA-EA4 or to add compressed lossless RAW, you should first patent the idea, and then submit it. BTW, neither of these is what I'd suggested in the email I sent today.
