Manfrotto BeFree Advanced Tripod: Lever vs Twist Lock

I plan to get Manfrotto BeFree Advanced Aluminum. Cost is $160 after $30 mail-in rebate.

I also considered MeFoto Backpacker S Aluminum ($150). MeFoto does have the advantage of size (13.2” vs 15.7” folded). But I think Manfotto is more functional: 494 ball head is better and leg lock is better. Thus my decision to go with Manfrotto.

What I now need to decide is lever vs twist for leg lock for Manfrotto. My initial thought is to get the lever lock. I just feel that is easier and faster. Twist lock (M-lock) is a partial turn quick twist for release/lock.

I see that Manfrotto BeFree Advanced Carbon Fiber version is only available in twist lock.  So this makes me wonder. Is lever vs twist lock purely personally preference? Or is there some other factor (maybe reliability or some other reason)? How come Manfrotto BeFree Advanced Carbon Fiber version only available in twist lock?

In addition, Aluminum version lever lock is only available in 1 color (black), whereas twist lock is available in many colors (black, blue, red)
