Re: What tripod do you use and aren't many identical?

I used Manfrotto legs with an Arca Swiss B1 ball head for many years, but of late all my tripod work is easier with traditional separate-axis controls.  I don't hike with a tripod so carbon-fiber weight saving was not  a consideration.  So as an old guy I picked up a Marcioni-vintage Tiltall tripod.  I always liked the simplicity of their design, including the screw-lock legs  (I had a Star D knockoff for years before the Manfrotto/B1 setup) and the Tiltalls are not terribly expensive on the used market.

I am committed to the Arca Swiss plates and clamps, though, so I had a friend make a replacement top plate for the Tiltall that takes an inexpensive third-party Arca-pattern clamp.  None of my MFT gear weighs enough for me to worry about even approaching the limits of either the tripod or the cheap clamp.  So far, it has been a pleasure to work with.
