Birth of perspective

Not to start another thread on this more than adequately covered subject, only to provide the answer to an explicit question posed in a maxed-out thread, i.e., :

Do you happen to have a source for the Paolo Uccello text ?

According to the Italian Wikipedia page on Uccello , the quote was related to posterity by the painter and art historian Giorgio Vasari.

Uccello (1397 – 1475) was a painter, but also a mathematician, obsessed with the problem of formulating the rules that will determine the position of a point or a line in the three-dimensional object space on a two-dimensional piece of canvas or paper.
