Nikon D80 plus 35 or 50mm fast lens in 2019 - worth considering?

Few years back, I have sold all my DSLR equipment and started taking family photos with a phone pretty much exclusively. From time to time, I do miss the feel of DSLR camera and crave for some portraits with a nice bokeh. So once in a while I have this urge to pickup an old used DSLR DX body with a fast 35mm or 50mm lens for those few times a year, when I feel like hauling pound or two vs just my 5 oz phone. Unfortunately, when I do the math (number of times I will use the camera per year), I cannot justify spending $400-500 for even the cheapest new setup like Nikon D3500. I have looked at the used market and I can get Nikon D80 with 35mm f/2 or f/2.8 lens between $100-150. That sounds a lot better if I have to explain the bill to my wife.

Why D80? On my required list is fixed LCD, SD card storage, no movie mode and price. I know D80 is ancient but it will be mostly used for outdoor shots in a daytime (kids, portraits). I usually view my photos on a HD TV (not even 4K yet) and if I print, it is 5x7 (but printing is rare). I shoot JPGs and I do not do any post processing as I am terrible with Photoshop or Lightroom. I guess I am old school.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy for looking at such an old technology just because I miss the feel of DSLR? I am also open to recommendations for other used DSLRs but please keep in mind that I chose D80 because I can get it for about $50-60 (body only). Not considering D90 as it is about $150.
