What is low light?
5

Just a little whinge, I am forever reading reviews and posts on these pages referring to low light but no one ever makes any attempt to define what is meant by low light.  Surely low light must mean very different things to different people.  I admit that night clubs and dark restaurants aren't my haunt so don't matter to me but are probably what most people mean by low light.  , I have however shot in dark concert halls with lit stages where my results have been surprisingly acceptable.  Shooting out of my window on a dull day capturing the landscape is surprisingly easy but trying to shoot a bird on a nearby tree in the same conditions, it's nearly impossible to get an acceptable result.  Because I like to shoot moving subjects such as BIFs and insects any light where I cannot get at least 1/200s is low light to me.

Especially in reviews isn't it reasonable of us to expect a defined low light standard.
