$400 to spend on video camera to shoot aircraft.

A 35mm equivalent 150-250 will produce a full frame fighter jet images.

What I think is important:

  • Stabilization is #1, #2, and #3
  • #4 I want 4K - it is affordable and provides resolution so that windowing/cropping still ends up with HD
  • #5 QUESTION: would tracking features possibly work on airplanes?

The ultimate would be something like a GoPro that I could let run while I enjoy watching the action with my eyes.  GoPro is just too wide angle.

I was expect camcorders to be cheaper but it's the opposite.  The Sony gimbal mounted optics might be the ultimate in stabilization, but the $800 price tag and even used is beyond my budged.  The Lumix FZ80 is ridiculously cheap $400 and has many attractive features but I have no idea how good the stabilization is.

So what am I overlooking?

I don't think it is possible to make an informed decision on what to buy because the primary spec, stabilization is not quantified - actual experience with a camera is necessary to rate I believe.

Thanks in advance,

Panasonic FZ80/FZ82
