DA* 300mm F4 as a backyard bird lens

I've become impressed with the output from this lens. Beautiful detail and color along with it handles light extremely well. It takes a little practice, but you can get sharp images hand held. Focusing into the dark shadowing woods with lots of branches can be a real challenge to the AF. Too many high contrast lines from close to infinity. You need to practice on picking a good spot as a focus point close to your subject and then take it from there. As a backyard bird lens this focal length is perfect. You don't need 500 mm for nearby songbirds.

Enjoy
