They is thousands of fantastic photographs taken with very old cameras and lenses! It's the person behind the camera that takes the image, not the camera.

Well, since it’s around a 2 year old thread, there’s a pretty good chance that the OP already made a decision.  I think the real question being asked was whether a new camera would add enough value to justify the cost difference.  It probably could have been phrased a bit more clearly, but I doubt that the OP was questioning whether an old camera would be capable of taking decent pictures.
