I upgraded from a t3i to a 77D about six months ago mainly because I wanted some of the newer features like the better focusing, better burst mode, etc but you can read about those in the reviews.

As for as the image quality I can notice a fairly dramatic improvement in the noise at higher ISOs and at least to my eyes I can barely see any noise at ISO 800 even when I compare and ISO 100 and 800 picture side by side. Even at ISO1600 the noise is pretty minor.

At least for my old T3i at ISO 100 or 200 the images seem pretty similar(to me at least) as the 77D except that the 77D has more megapixels but unless you are doing a lot of cropping or printing very large images that is barely noticable.

I bought a refurbished 77D on the Canon Refurbished web site and it came with a 18-55 IS STM kit lens for just little bit more. (The deals on that web site change fairly often and I got a good pre-Christmas sale) That lens is probably two generations ahead of the 18-55 that came with my t3i and it seems to also take sharper pictures but that is less dramatic than the ISO improvements.

I sold my T3i with the older lens so getting the newer STM kit lens may make sense if you are going to sell your T2i since it will sell better with a lens.

One thing that I was not expecting is that I really like the touch screen and I am using it a lot more than I would have thought.
