Ideal travel lens

On my last trip over Europe, my 12-40mm f:2.8 really excelled, although I did feel the weight. I also brought the 35-100mm but I ended up not using it too much; one because I didn't want to risk getting dust in the sensor (which indeed happened) and secondly because I didn't want to lug it around. So I ended up shooting at 40mm a lot and cropping which is not ideal.

I'll be using a Panasonic G9, which I don't own yet, but is coming soon. So, dual IS is a feature I'm looking forward to having, if possible.

So far these are my options:

  1. Olympus 14-150mm f:4-5.6: Slow, no IS
  2. Panasonic 14-140mm f:3.5-5.6: Slow, no weather sealing
  3. Panasonic 12-60mm f:3.5-5.6: Slow, shorter reach
  4. Pana Leica 12-60mm f:2.8-4: Expensive, shorter reach, heavier

The logic behind all this is, I want a much longer reach than 40mm that will allow me to keep only one lens on the camera unless I need to shoot something really wide, in which case I'll turn to my ultra wide or FE. I also value weather sealing, since I don't want to limit myself to stop shooting in the rain.

So, there is definitively no free lunch. What do you recommend?
