Lens OLED & digital data - Why not...
1

I was just taking a look at the neat little OLED on the 24-70 f/4. Focal length, focus distance, depth of field grouped together.

It occurred to me that all* of this data is clearly available electronically now. So why not have the same information available in the viewfinders too on one of the optional overlays?

With the EVF approach this is about the only data we have to move camera away from the eye to check. Kind of breaks that ‘new’ EVF paradigm of all info available (if you want it) in one place. (Personally, most of the time, I prefer a clean and uncluttered EVF display but have found it useful to be able to bring info up on demand.)

(* focal length isn’t shown on the OLED, that comes from the lens barrel itself but it is available to the body as its been included in EXIF for years.)
