Re: Questions before buying RX100 VI

Fed up with Googling!

I've decided on the Durapro twin charger with four batteries. Four batteries may seem excessive (5 with the one supplied with the camera), but in my opinion you can't have too many batteries when in remote areas, particularly when they are reasonably priced.

I've spent ages considering camera bags. I liked the look of the Cute C4 or the Kata DF-406 mentioned in earlier threads but I can't find them on sale anywhere. Bearing in mind that I want a snug fit case with no additional storage, a belt loop, and I don't like a zippered flap, my choices have been a bit limited. A number of other possible bags mentioned in earlier threads on this forum appear to have been discontinued. I think this one may be suitable - MegaGear MG1496, but will wait before placing an order to see if anyone else can comment on their experience with this bag. I am a little concerned by the fact that the closing method for the flap appears to be a magnetic disc which may not be quite strong enough for my liking. If necessary, I will remove the two disc pieces and replace them with Velcro.

I've gone for the Sony AGR2 Grip.

And one of these - SanDisk Extreme 64 GB SDXC Class 10 Memory Card up to 90 Mbps with U3 Ratings.

Still indecisive about whether to go for the paperback or Kindle version of Alexander White's book.

Also still vacillating between paying £1050 for the RX100 VI at John Lewis in the UK or going for a grey import at £729 through E-infinity. I've been in back-and-forth email contact with E-infinity asking a number of questions. They have replied very promptly and everything, as far as I can tell, looks to be good.

I've been in contact with Square Trade regarding insurance cover for accidental damage, but they told me that they now no longer operate in the UK. I used their cover for a camera some years ago and the premium was very reasonable. If I Google 'insurance for cameras' most of the companies seem to be quoting for high values of camera equipment. I guess it will be down to using my home insurance personal effects policy.
