I just wonder if this may help....

Yes but I wasn't doing a motion picture recording.

That was just the first option, what about the other eight below that one.

None of those applied either. Most of them are common sense.

I think most problems are as Sid mentions "Pilot Error"!........... or there is another possibility not RTM!

You're entitled to your opinion. But I'm not talking about 'most problems'. I'm talking about this specific, demonstrable problem.

The only time there is a difficulty is when there is movement within the subject frame, or subject chosen is not suitable for taking without extra lighting, or has extreme contrasts.

Forgive me, but I thought HDR was specifically devised to cope with extreme contrasts. Of course subjects moving within the frame can cause problems with any process that involves merging multiple shots. This issue did not arise in the instances I am talking about.

I don't know how some present day photographers would deal with a 35mm SLR, or roll film camera without all today's refinements.

Well indeed. I am not sure whether I qualify as a 'present-day photographer', having started out in the 1950s with a Brownie 127, worked up through an Agfa Silette, a Nikkormat film SLR, and then a Canon AE-1. So I will do my best not to be irritated by your faintly patronising tone. Meanwhile I shall continue to draw attention to one - albeit minor - respect in which I think some Panasonic models fall short of my expectations, if not yours.
