From a business perspective it makes sense to consolidate down to a single lens mount.

And yet Canon have remained the no 1 camera maker for years supplying two camera mounts. Decades of being an exception?

And this was not because of the M - it was because of EF/EFS. The RP is the successor to EF. There is no reason that Canon cannot do with the RP what they did with EF/EFS.

Ask the following questions:

What does the EOS M line offer over EF/EFS other than size?

What does the EOS M line offer over the RF other than size?

Size is the reason for the existence of the M and the reason for its popularity.

Agreed. Do the SL dslrs outsell it or not?

The EOS M diehards will be enraged and will talk about best value, image quality, etc....

Cute, try to frame it as irrational. I bought the M knowing it didn't have the best feature set, but it can use my EF glass. However, I mostly use it with EF-M glass.

Its not about framing. Most people use the M's with M glass. They end replicating their EF/EFS lenses because they are to big.

Most buyers of the M buy it because it it small and it produces good images.

You forgot cheap. Everyone likes cheap.

The question is not whats good for the consumer, but rather whats good for Canon.

You go now and teach No 1 what they are doing wrong.

Again this is not because of the M.
