FF aside, the Canon M50 (Kiss M) has been the best selling mirrorless camera in Japan for a long time.

In Japan, since 2016 Canon APSC mirrorless has outsold Sony FF and APSC combined,

The BCN ranking for the year 2016 mirrorless cameras:

  1. Olympus 26.8
  2. Canon 18.5%
  3. Sony 17.9%

They've built a larger base by selling more than Sony for over 3 years in a row. And each year they've increased their lead over Sony and eventually Olympus.

For 2018:

  1. Canon (31.6% share)
  2. Olympus (23.5% share)
  3. Sony (22.7% share)

That is about 1.5x more cameras sold than Sony and an even greater expansion of their larger user base.
