D90 upgrade or achieving crisper images

Hi all,

My first post here - thanks for a great forum.

Ive got a D90 and have had it for years. Great camera however I notice that my photos are not as crisp as others that I see on Instagram for example. Now sure they may have superior talent and skill, no question. But my photos just seem flat with soft colours.

I enjoy street photography and architectural photography too.

Current lenses 18-105 kit and 50mm 1.8.

My question here is - would it really make a difference to upgrade to a d7500 or even something like a XT Fuji mirrorless? I recently saw some shots taken with a Canon 200D that were incredibly sharp, Ive never seen anything like that out of the D90. I know the camera is nearly 12 years old, but I am wondering if that is the reason?

Example of pictures:

Shot using prime 50mm f2.8 1/60

Shot using 18-105 lens: ISO1000 f5.6

Thanks,

Darren
