My gimbal head is a huge help with modest stitches like 2 x 2's, or 3 x 4's , but that's only good for 100 or maybe 150mp images, and that is not enough for ultimate sharpness and detail in very large prints. Theoretically, that takes 300mp or so.... but thats only in a perfect world where your shots are all as sharp as great equipment can make under ideal conditions.

Oh, I get it. You want to make 4-foot-high murals. Those are going to be great. I'd like to do that too some time. Unfortunately, I live pretty far from the mountains.

I do have one here that is stitched from 24 images, although the light was really terrible, so it's not great. As I recall, the main problem otherwise was getting a single, unobstructed view, but I don't recall any special problem with stitching.

Why isn't the gimbal adequate? What happened to the the other equipment you tried that we discussed?

It would just be too tedious to have to manually shoot like 10 columns, by 10 rows. (And remember I always shoot bracketed sets too... So that would be 500 shots !) Heck, even with a Gigapan, these kinds of shots can take several minutes, but the faster you can take them, the less chance you have of changes light during the captures.
