Thanks for this very helpful review! I find myself to a large extend in the same position as you were a few months ago. Having worked with a canon 60D for a very long time, I am too thinking about upgrading to a full frame camera (see also my post in this forum 4D ago: “pancakes”). However, when buying such an expensive camera you cannot afford to make a wrong choice.

One of my doubts is if the camera focuses fast enough to shoot flying birds. I wonder if you have any experience with this.

When deciding on the “R” did you also consider the “RP”, and if so, why did it loose the competition?

Well I am moving from 80D (My R is arriving tomorrow :), and I did look at both R & Rp, I played with both of them at my local store few times, and here are my reasons to go for R;

1- Over all R seems more responsive

2- Better DR

3- even crop 4k, but at least DPAF is there.

4- Battery life

5- dust proof shutter cover.

6- I can use EF-S lenses and still get 1080p video, since I will be using 10-18 EFS

7- 24p on R

Also now difference is not $1000 any more, now it's just $700
