Actually, Olympus has been very specific about their market strategy, going forward.

In one of the most recent financial reports the have outlined their intent to focus on (paraphrasing here) “high margin cameras, aimed at specialized market segments” . The E-M1 X seems to be the first of these high margin cameras.

If this is a winning strategy, remains to be seen. But, they seem to be executing according to plan.

The strategy is sound. It only depends how well they execute it.
