I'm #1

That is, I just joined the 1D club

Found a 1D Mark IV in what appears to be extremely good condition at my local camera store while I was picking up something entirely different. It was priced to move so I decided to take a flyer on it--they have a generous return policy on used gear so it was a low/no risk opportunity. Included 3 batteries, charger, unused strap, and shutter release.

I've only shot about a dozen frames with it so far but I gotta say I'm already head over heels. My 5D IV is a great camera, but compared to the 1D4 it's like a BMW compared to a Formula 1 car. There is nothing on the 1D for fluff--no "A" mode, no "scene" modes, no help screens. Everything about it screams function function function. Even the control layout doesn't bug me since I have had an EOS 3 for 20 years that is very similar. Maybe my vision is affected by my sudden besottedness but the initial images look particularly sweet SOOC. Sadly a recent spell of nice weather (think good light) just reverted to our normal spring crap weather (flat light, clouds, rain) so I'm not going to get as much opportunity to really try it out for a while yet. Hope to use this for birding and maybe some kids sports.

Let's hear some love for a Canon classic!
