Re: Mac + routing + wifi access point

I have used a MBP and a Canon 1DXMk II, with an external wireless file transmitter attached, connected together via a battery-supported wifi router, for wildlife photography in the field. This allows distances of about 200m between the camera and the laptop, with the camera functions controlled by the Canon EOS Utillity software on the computer.  It works well but note that you do need a wireless file transmitter, either externally attached or integrated into the camera.

Details are at https://www.hanahoephotography.com/blog/2018/9/12/wireless-connections.

I believe you can also use the Canon Camera Connect App on your phone to connect the camera with the laptop but I suspect that this is over relatively short distances.
