RX100VI EVF issue in sunshine

I bought an RX100VI on Saturday and tried it out for the first time last evening. Facing south south west, looking up at 45 degrees  and photographing an inscription stone on a church wall in bright late evening sun, I was unable to see anything at all through the EVF. With the TZ200 I also had with me, it wasn't an issue at all as the glass is recessed in whereas on the pop up of the Sony it is flush and I guess it was reflecting the suns rays in some way.

Has anyone else ever had this issue? I'm probably going to have to return the camera because it just wasn't useable for me under those circumstances and I'm very disappointed by it.

Dave
