Linux Mint - How to get WiFi working?

Hoping someone out there can give me a hand with this.

I've installed Linux Mint (I believe 17.2 32-bit) onto an HP Mini netbook with 2 GB ram.

But I can't get the WiFi to work.

I think I've clicked on "upgrade" or "install" drivers for the WiFi card in the netbook, but it doesn't install and just reverts back to "Do not use this device".

I am able to plug in a LAN cable and get onto the Internet.

Everything else seems to be working.

Just not the WiFi.

Is there any trick to this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
