Also, Lightroom cannot use the massively parallel cards with several thousand CUDA cores. So you get better performance in LR by getting a highly clocked GPU card with about a 1000 cores  (fx a GTX1060) compared to more cores at a slower speed (fx. GTX1070).

The high GPU clock and high memory bandwidth is what matters - and thats why a GTX would make a difference compared to the pretty slowish K1200 (no pun intended). Now, whether that speed increase - which won’t be massive - is worth the dollars is another matter intirely
