I'm doing a hike into dark skies shortly and have decided to only take my iPhone XR. How did you get a 30 second exposure on your phone! Is that possible on my iPhone?

There seems to be all sorts of confusion with Iphone and long exposure. I've been looking for a while now. There are tons of articles titled "Do Long Exposure with Iphone". But until you actually want do ACTUAL long exposure to expose really dark scenery, you find out you can't ACTUALLY do actual long exposure but ....simulated. In other words, apparently the answer is no. When you start using these apps, you notice they are designed to stack multiple SHORT exposures for "misty water effect" or "light painting", and no way to leave the shutter open to expose dark scenery past ~1/2 sec.

THSI! I researched for so long before finally concluding that among the "top tier" camera phones only Huawei/Oneplus officially gave true long exposure control.

Samsung S7/S8/S9/S10 are limited to 10sec, Google Pixels are 4s. Iphones 1/3 or 1/2 sec.

3rd party "long exposure" apps typically stack multiple short exposures to simulate a long exposure which is inferior to a true long exposure.

Now i would love and pay for a 3rd party app that stacks and automatically aligns multiple 20-30sec exposures for further detail and noise reduction when doing astrophotography. Something like "deepskystacker" but on Android.
