Be careful with Ken Burns, I once made a slide show using ProShow Gold and plenty of Ken Burns effects. The trouble was I was creating it on a 24" monitor and when it was later shown on a large flat screen TV the effect was overwhelming, tended to sea-sickness results.

So if experimenting with Ken Burns, do that using the target TV as the monitor and sit back at normal viewing distance so you can get the degree of the effect right. Very slow zooms and pans are the answer. Underdone is way better than overdone.
